The thread size is 6mm x 1.0mm the length I'm not sure of. Might be 25 or 30mm.

I had to go oversize on mine when a couple got stripped. VW makes a step stud with 8mm on one side and 6mm on the other.

You could use Heli Coils, would'nt have so much to drill out to get an 8mm tap in there.
